Healthy Roots. Rosemary Hair & Scalp Oil

$24.95

Cold-pressed organic oils and rosemary for a scalp that's fed, not stripped. Stronger strands, real shine, and roots that get some respect.

Description

Everything good about your hair starts at the scalp, and most hair care ignores it completely.

Healthy Roots is a nutrient-dense oil built for the part of your hair you can't see. Rosemary and peppermint stimulate and refresh the scalp, nettle helps keep it balanced, and a base of organic sunflower, castor, sweet almond, argan, hemp, olive, and avocado oils feeds dry ends and brittle lengths until they look like they belong to someone who has their life together. Use it as a pre-wash treatment or a leave-in for the ends, and expect softer, shinier, more resilient hair.

It's 100 percent natural origin, 69 percent organic, and COSMOS Organic certified by Ecocert, which is a standard most "clean" hair oils don't meet.

Why rosemary

Rosemary is the most-studied botanical in scalp care for a reason. In a 2015 clinical trial published in SkinMed, 100 people with hereditary hair thinning used either rosemary oil or 2 percent minoxidil for six months. By the end, both groups saw a similar increase in hair count, and the rosemary group reported less scalp itching. Earlier lab research suggested rosemary may help support the scalp's response to the hormone activity behind pattern thinning. Healthy Roots isn't a drug and isn't a treatment for hair loss, but if you want the scalp benefits of rosemary in a formula that's actually pleasant to use, this is it.

How to use

Part your hair and apply a few drops directly to the scalp, then massage in with your fingertips for a minute or two. Work any remaining oil through the mid-lengths and ends. Leave on for at least 15 minutes, or overnight for a deeper treatment, then shampoo as usual. Use two or three times a week. Give it eight to twelve weeks of consistent use before judging results, since that's how long hair takes to respond to anything. Best used within six months of opening.

The scent

Fresh rosemary and cooling peppermint over a soft, warm base of bergamot, clove, sandalwood, and patchouli. Herbal, a little spa-like, and it fades as the oil absorbs.
